A Quarter of a Million to Community Mental Health

Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia Funds Innovative Programming for Mental Health and Addictions Inpatients and Community Members

The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is pleased to announce it has awarded its first round of 2020-2021 grants, a welcomed gift in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic. Mental health is more important than ever, as those most vulnerable are even more isolated. A total of $258,466 in funding has been granted through the Foundation's Community Grants and Nova Scotia Mental Health and Addictions Central Zone Grant programs. The funding will enable the delivery of more than fifty programs and services for inpatients and community members. These projects will enhance the level of care for Nova Scotians living with mental illness and addiction through online support groups, telephone counselling, therapeutic gardening, exercise programs, culinary arts, music, and much more.

“At the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, we understand the importance of treating the whole person. These innovative programs and services will help address some of the core issues that prevent Nova Scotians with mental illness and addiction from living their lives to their fullest,” says Starr Cunningham, President & CEO. “We are so proud of the organizations, healthcare providers, and individuals whose programming will have a profound impact on the quality of life of Nova Scotians with mental illness, and their loved ones."
