Volunteer With Us

We’re looking for individuals who want to help build more connected, compassionate communities across Nova Scotia.

At the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, we invest in community-led programs designed by communities, for communities. Through our grants and fundraising initiatives, we help create spaces where people feel a sense of belonging, strengthen local circles of support, and complement care across the province.

Volunteers play an important role in making this work possible.

How You Can Get Involved

We offer a range of volunteer opportunities throughout the year, especially in support of our fundraising initiatives and community activations:

Foundation Events

Support signature events like Let’s Keep Talking in October — an evening that educates, inspires, and celebrates community champions — and our Holiday Black Tie Gala in November, a festive night of connection, entertainment, and giving back.

Message of Kindness

During the holiday season, volunteers help bring our Message of Kindness campaign to life by collecting donations and sharing messages of hope in community spaces.

Special Opportunities

We also partner with organizations and events throughout the year, including community fairs and expos, Glow Gardens, COBS Bread Doughnation Day, and the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign.

Our Approach

We foster an open, inclusive environment grounded in respect, support, and compassion. We welcome individuals from all communities, backgrounds, and lived experiences, and we strive to match volunteer roles with your interests and skills whenever possible.

Whether you’re helping at an event, sharing your creative talents, or supporting behind the scenes, you’re helping strengthen mental health in communities across Nova Scotia.
