Halifax, NS – Tuesday, October 18th -- The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is pleased to have awarded $1,189,000 in Second Round Grants. More than 60 projects have been funded, directly impacting all geographic areas of the province.
“The need for mental health support across Nova Scotia has never been greater,” says Starr Cunningham, Foundation President & CEO. “These grants will make a critical difference in our communities and to the one in four Nova Scotians who are living with mental illness and addiction, and their families.”
Funded projects include peer support, mental health training, Indigenous youth programming, North End community counselling, healing from harm, building 2SLGBTQIA+ circles of support, maternal mental wellness, addictions care, grief support, and more.
Beyond Community Grants, the Foundation’s Grants Selection Committee also awarded funding through the Scotiabank Resilience Fund. CMHA Colchester-East Hants, Colchester Ground Search & Rescue, and the Truro Housing Outreach Society are the recipients of this fund, which was established in December 2020 as a way to continue to support Nova Scotians and those affected by the mass casualty in Colchester and East Hants.
