How We Help

Our Grant Programs

Our Grants Programs are central to our strategic direction of supporting community-based mental health projects to improve the mental wellness of Nova Scotians. We invest in initiatives throughout the province that increase knowledge, create access to support, foster connection and belonging, and strengthen community.  Together with our donors, we’re working to create a future where every Nova Scotian has a chance to thrive.

Funded Programs

We invest donor dollars in the following mental health and addictions programs that promote healing, skill development, mental health literacy, and peer support.

Donor Supported Funds

Donor supported funds are named grants created to support specific mental health initiatives in Nova Scotia. Established by corporate partners, individual donors, or foundations, donors can direct their contributions to provide targeted support to specific initiatives that expand access to care, bridge system gaps, and respond to the evolving mental health and addictions needs in different communities. If you are interested in learning more about establishing a donor supported fund, please contact us.

We are grateful to the following organizations who have created a Named Grant:

Please note: Funds from the following grants are awarded through our Community Grants program.

Emera Youth Mental Health Grant

The Emera Youth Mental Health Grant was established in 2023 to support youth mental health initiatives in Halifax Regional Municipality. By investing in opportunities for young people to learn and grow through its Community Investment Program, Emera is committed to supporting our leaders of tomorrow.

The NSLC Community Connections Grant

The NSLC Community Connections Grant was established in 2024 and aims to fund programs and initiatives that provide mental health supports to equity deserving groups in each region of the province over a three-year period. In keeping with the NSLC’s priority to invest in community well-being, special consideration will be given to programs that support people facing food insecurity and housing insecurity.

The Stevens Family Foundation Grant

The Stevens Family Foundation is demonstrating their commitment to improving mental wellness for Nova Scotians. The Stevens Family Foundation Grant was established to support community-based mental health and/or addictions organizations serving people facing housing insecurity.
