“It has been an incredibly challenging year for Nova Scotians especially those Nova Scotians living with mental illness and addiction,’ says Starr Cunningham, Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia President & CEO. “Our community members who live with mental health disorders need our support now more than ever before, and this donation from Medavie will enable us to support some of the most vulnerable Nova Scotians right in their own communities.”

Thanks in part to this donation, the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia has distributed more than 75-thousand dollars in COVID-19 response through its Be the Link Funding Campaign,  putting funding,180 SIM cards, and more than 225 devices in the hands of Nova Scotians in need.

“We, too, recognize that this has been an especially challenging year for Nova Scotians and the increased need for mental health supports,” adds Bernard Lord, Medavie CEO.  “Ensuring Nova Scotians – and all Canadians – have the resources and tools they need to live their best lives aligns with our mission to improve the wellbeing of Canadians, and our wanting to make a meaningful difference in our communities.”

The funding from Medavie is part of their $5 million dollar commitment to support organizations with COVID-19 emergency relief and through recovery, focused on improving access to mental health and food security.
