HALIFAX, May 25, 2022 – Bluedrop Training & Simulation in partnership with the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is announcing a gift of $20,000 to support youth mental health in our region. The donation will support the delivery of the 7th Step Society of Nova Scotia’s Youth program and Partners for Youth New Brunswick.
“We are a company that believes in being compassionate always. It’s our privilege and responsibility to be a source for social good at home and across our borders,” says Brandi Boudreau, True Blue Committee Member. “Bluedrop’s employee-led committee; True Blue, funds primarily local non-profit organizations and charities. We are happy to have a part in such impactful programs for youth in our community.”
Partners For Youth Inc. engages youth who are facing challenges in their lives and assists them in becoming capable, connected, and contributing members of their communities. Similarly, the 7th Step Society of Nova Scotia helps incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people change their behaviour and attitudes through a basic self-help philosophy. The 7th Step Youth program will further this mission by positively impacting the lives of criminalized youth through peer mentorship, growth, and education with the goal of reducing crime, violence, and substance use.
“Most of our members testify their troubles with addiction and mental illness started in their teenage years or earlier,” says Steven Deveau, 7th Step Society of Nova Scotia Executive Director. “Our members openly admit if they had a positive role model with similar lived experience as a youth, their experience would have been vastly different, and positive change would have happened a lot earlier.
Bluedrop Training & Simulation designs, develops, and integrates advanced training solutions including state-of-the-art training and simulation products and highly interactive courseware. As a company composed of caring human beings, Bluedrop believes in making a real difference in the lives of Nova Scotians living with mental illness and addiction.
“The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is proud to support the expansion of youth mental health programming with support from Bluedrop. Developed to meet the unique needs of criminalized youth, these programs will ensure young offenders are given the tools and opportunity to find a healthier way forward,” says Starr Cunningham, Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia President & CEO.
