Dartmouth, NS - Tickets are on sale for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia’s popular BMO Bank of Montreal’s A Different Stage of Mind fundraiser. This event will raise money for mental health programs and services across the province.
Presented by BMO Bank of Montreal, A Different Stage of Mind is a variety show featuring Nova Scotian community leaders performing in the roles of musical stars. This year’s event will take guests all the way down to Nashville to showcase some of country music’s finest.
“Mental health is a topic that can benefit from more research, more spotlight and more talking,” said Richard Florizone, President of Dalhousie University, who will be taking to the stage as Glen Campbell of The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on Friday, March 24th, 7:00 p.m. at the WTCC Halifax.
This year’s show features five performances. Four out of the five groups are committed to raising $50,000 for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia in the weeks leading up to the event through ticket sales, fundraisers and corporate supporters. Stars are competing for the People’s Choice and Top Fundraiser awards.
“We’re super excited with this year’s talented line-up of stars,” says Starr Dobson, President & CEO of the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. “We encourage everyone to buy their tickets early, as the event has been known to sell out in record time. This event truly puts mental health at centre stage, raising much-needed awareness and funds.”
Mayor Mike Savage will return to host the event again this year. Those in attendance will be treated to performances from The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour (with Richard Florizone as Glen Campbell, Peter Fardy as Willie Nelson and Catherine Bagnell Styles as Patsy Cline), Gloria McCluskey as Minnie Pearl, Joan Jessome as Dolly Parton, The Country Divas (with Lindsay Peach as Terri Clark, Crystal Wentzell as Shania Twain and Sherry Donovan as Faith Hill), and mother-son duo Dawn MacLachlan and Adam Fleiger making up Team Pat in memory of Pat Fleiger with a special guest appearance by ECMA nominee Makayla Lynn.
When asked how they feel about performing live on stage, all the stars agree the opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause far outweighs any embarrassment or stage fright.
“It’s not about you,” says Dawn MacLachlan of Team Pat. “It’s about the message.”
