The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is “seeing stars.” On February 20, 2015, the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax will play host to a sold out fundraiser in support of the Foundation. BMO Bank of Montreal’s A Different Stage of Mind is a variety show featuring Nova Scotian community leaders performing in the roles of musical stars.
This year’s show features performances from five groups of stars. Each group is committed to raising $50,000 for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia in the months leading up to the event through ticket sales, fundraisers, and high end sponsorships. Groups are competing for the People’s Choice and Top Fundraising Awards.
In early January, half the tickets to the event were sold out. By the end of January, the Foundation had to put a hold on tickets and devise a strategy to accommodate more space for seating in the WTCC ballroom. Attendance is now capped at 624 guests, and those on the waiting list for tickets could easily fill another 100 seats.
We are overwhelmed by the response to this year's show," says Starr Dobson, Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia President & CEO. "The demand for tickets certainly speaks to the calibre and passion of our stars. It's obvious our supporters share our vision of wanting to see Nova Scotians living with mental illness thriving in our communities.”
A Different Stage of Mind will be hosted by Mayor Mike Savage. Those in attendance will be treated to performances from:
