Connection and community can have a powerful impact on mental wellness.
That’s why the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is proud to support Société Mi-Carême’s Entre c’est débarré project through our Community Grants Program.
Based in Chéticamp, the initiative supports seniors experiencing mobility challenges or isolation by creating opportunities for companionship, connection, and community engagement. Through friendly visits, shared meals, music, and assistance navigating local supports, the project helps seniors remain connected to the people and places around them.
The program has already helped improve the mental wellness of 195 participants.
One participant shared:
“Sometimes the days feel long and quiet here, and it’s easy to believe people have forgotten about us. When the project comes with music or a friendly visit, it reminds me that the community still cares. Knowing that someone took the time to think of me makes all the difference.”
Programs like Entre c’est débarré demonstrate the importance of community-led initiatives that reflect the unique needs of the people they serve.
At the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, we believe communities know their needs best. Through donor support, we are able to invest in local programs across the province that foster connection, reduce isolation, and strengthen mental wellness close to home.
Thank you to everyone who helps make this work possible.
Donate today to keep supporting community-led mental health initiatives.
