Creating Moments of Healing Through Art

We’re proud to support The BraveArt Project through our Community Grants. Over the past year, 218 therapeutic art kits were delivered in partnership with Bryony House, the Nova Scotia Sisterhood and other women’s centres across the province to people impacted by domestic violence, trauma, crisis and transition across Nova Scotia.

These trauma-informed creative wellness kits help support regulation, reflection, self-expression and moments of calm and healing for those impacted by trauma and domestic abuse. Through activities like painting, journalling and other forms of creative expression, the kits offer an opportunity to process emotions, explore feelings and find comfort during difficult times.

Each kit is designed to remind the recipient that healing is possible, and creativity is powerful — one brushstroke, bead or colour at a time.

For those receiving the kits, the impact goes beyond the art supplies themselves. They offer an opportunity to take time for themselves, discover new ways to express their emotions and feel supported along the way.

As one recipient shared:

“I like painting, this is great. It was cool to get the journal, I used it and never thought to think of how I feel after I paint.”

Another shared:

“It’s nice to know people get out of this life and do good things.”
