Deep Roots Music Festival presents The Song and The Sorrow

  • Horton Performance Centre 75 Greenwich Road South Greenwich, Nova Scotia B4P 2R2 (map)

Deep Roots Music Festival, in partnership with the Mud Creek Rotary Club, is pleased to present The Song and the Sorrow in support of the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.

This very special opening night show features a performance by celebrated Maritime singer-songwriter Catherine MacLellan following the screening of her National Film Board documentary. The Song and the Sorrow, directed by Millefiore Clarkes captures Catherine’s personal struggle to reconcile a family tragedy and confront the hurtful mystery of her absent father, Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer, Gene MacLellan. It also illustrates her journey to embrace his musical legacy, and break the silence and stigma surrounding mental illness.

The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is honoured to be the beneficiary of this poignant and incredibly important artistic endeavour.
