Yarmouth Life Skills empowers adults with disabilities to live meaningful, self-directed lives. We’re pleased to support Yarmouth Life Skills: Empowered Programs through our Community Grants.
This project meets an emerging need as a result of The Remedy, which is transforming how Nova Scotians with disabilities are supported to live in the community. Yarmouth Life Skills: Empowered Programs is improving participants’ mental and physical wellbeing and building connections with the wider community.
YLS hosts weekly programs that support recreation, emotional regulation, life skills, and employment skills. Participants also have regular access to the local fitness centre. As part of the project, subsidized access is offered to families, friends, and community members who may not otherwise be able to participate, creating a unique opportunity to blend disability support models with neurotypical community participation, fostering natural, inclusive interactions and strengthening community connections in an authentic and meaningful way.
Our Community Grants support mental wellness through the lenses of community, connection, education and peer support. We’re currently accepting applications for new projects! Learn more about our Community Grants on our website Grant Programs – Mental Health Foundation NS
