Laing House recently welcomed supporters, community members, and young people past and present to an Open House celebrating 25 years of social connection.
For 25 years, Laing House has offered a welcoming place for youth and young adults with lived mental health experiences to build relationships, explore their interests, and connect with the resources and support they need.
For members Emily and Andrés, the heart of Laing House is the people.
“The people,” says Emily. “I’ve met all my friends here.”
Andrés shares a similar feeling, adding, “Laing House is a versatile place that stimulates different interests. I can be with people or on my own.”
Both members also spoke about the importance of having a space where they can simply be themselves.
“We’re all different,” says Emily. “Even two people with the same diagnosis — we’re different. The options for treatment outside of Laing House are limited, and Laing offers a variety of programs.”
The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia congratulates Laing House on 25 years of creating connection, belonging, and community for young people across Nova Scotia.
