Support Swany’s Challenge
Swany’s Challenge is a free five-day sea kayaking trip that uses adventure therapy, leadership, and community as a path to wellness. Swany’s Challenge is a group therapy option for male-identifying youth 18 years and older struggling with addictions.
Led by a Licensed Therapist and Certified Kayak Guides, the program provides participants with an opportunity to connect with others, build confidence, and experience healing through adventure.

Why Swany’s Challenge?
More Than Talk
Young men and male-identifying youth are far less likely to seek help through traditional talk therapy. This program is built around doing, not sitting.
A Lot of People Who Struggle With Substance Use Feel Cut Off
From peers, from purpose, from themselves. This trip addresses these issues.
No Labels. Just You.
You don’t have to call yourself an addict to show up. You just have to want something different in your life.
Backed by Research
Research shows that being in nature lowers barriers that deter young men and male-identifying youth from getting help.
Honouring Swany
Created in memory of Jonathan Cosman. Jon (aka “Swany”) struggled with addictions and mental illness. He loved the outdoors and being on the water. Swany’s Challenge was created as a tribute to Jon’s life.
