Connection and belonging can play an important role in mental wellness.
That’s why the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is proud to support programs like Thrive in Black through our Community Grants Program.
Designed to support the unique mental health needs of Black women in Nova Scotia, Thrive in Black creates opportunities for participants to come together in a space rooted in authenticity, vulnerability, empowerment, and healing.
Through meaningful conversations and shared experiences, participants are reminded that they do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone.
One participant reflected on the experience by sharing:
“Being surrounded by so many strong, vulnerable, and authentic women reminded me that we are never alone, even when life feels heavy. The energy in the room was raw and real — and it gave me permission to just be. I left feeling lighter, braver, and more grounded.”
Programs like Thrive in Black highlight the importance of culturally responsive, community-led mental health initiatives that reflect the lived experiences and realities of the people they serve.
At the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, we believe communities know their needs best. Through donor support, we are able to invest in programs across the province that strengthen connection, foster understanding, and support mental wellness close to home.
Thank you to everyone who helps make this work possible.
Donate today to keep supporting community-led mental health initiatives.
