Simpson Landing Therapeutic Programming

Our vision is to see all Nova Scotians thriving in their communities. Through our NSH Grants, we provide funding to complement the therapeutic programming delivered through Mental Health and Addictions Programs.

The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Unit at Simpson Landing is for clients living with mental illness who are learning to manage their chronic illness and developing skills to successfully reintegrate into the community. Many clients work toward re-entering the workforce, and employment skills contribute to their success. Simpson’s Scoops serves up ice cream treats at the Nova Scotia Hospital and created an employment opportunity for several clients every Thursday all summer long!

“I didn’t think I was ready to work and I was really nervous. I hadn’t worked since I got sick five years ago. I started working at Simpson’s Scoops and it was hard at first. I was nervous to talk to people and afraid I would make a mistake counting money. I ended up doing better than I thought I would. I realized I can work and applied for a job at LakeCity Works. I wouldn’t have tried without practicing at Simpson’s Scoops first.” – Simpson’s Scoops employee
