Engaging African Nova Scotian Men and Boys Around Domestic Violence

Our Board of Trustees recently welcomed Mario Rolle from Scotia Winds of Change to learn more about Engaging African Nova Scotian Men and Boys Around Domestic Violence, a project recently awarded a Community Grant. The goal is to empower men and boys to recognize and address harmful behaviours.

Domestic violence is a pervasive issue in our province, occurring across genders, cultures, and communities. This project aims to fill a gap in prevention initiatives by providing culturally relevant resources and creating safe spaces for meaningful dialogue. Participants are encouraged to become “responsible bystanders” — recognizing harmful situations and intervening appropriately to prevent further harm. More than an educational workshop, this initiative is a call to action to build healthier relationships and stronger communities.
