Body Movin’ is all about finding ways to move that support both our physical and mental well-being — at every age and ability.
Our Community Grants fund initiatives across the mental health continuum, including prevention, connection, and opportunities to stay active.
The Seniors Exercise Program hosted by the Arisaig Parish Community Center includes chair yoga, tai chi, and the Older Adult Moving and Mingling Program. These sessions are improving both the physical and social well-being of older adults through accessible exercise tailored to senior mobility levels, meaningful opportunities for interaction, and stronger community connection by bringing together seniors from rural areas across the region.
“My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 25 years ago and as the disease has progressed, our world has become smaller. Offering a program in the community gives him easy access to an exercise program where he feels comfortable and can participate as he sees fit. The socialization the program provides, and the support from community members, makes him feel valued.
For myself, as a caregiver, this program is an opportunity for self-care through exercise and socialization with community members that I otherwise would not experience.”
