Audrey’s Tree

Audrey Parker

1961-2018

Our hearts were full at our 27th annual Compass Group Canada Festival of Trees as we shared this beautiful video message from the late Audrey J. Parker.

Audrey, a Halifax advocate for changes to Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) law, was a true friend to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. In fact, she worked with the Foundation and a special group of friends to produce a Chanel-themed Christmas tree before she died on November 1st. Audrey’s hope was to see the tree raise $50,000 and to have it donated to Hospice Halifax.

We are so touched to tell you Audrey’s Tree has raised more than $61,000 (and counting) since Saturday night and will be arriving at Hospice Halifax's temporary location any day now. Our thanks to the J&W Murphy Foundation and other generous Festival guests who helped make Audrey’s dream come true.

We hope you took a few minutes to watch Audrey’s conversation with our President & CEO, Starr Cunningham, as she shared a compelling message of simplicity, slowing down and spending time with those you love.
